Subway customers have hours left to use points before loyalty scheme shake-up

Subway customers have just hours left to use their loyalty points ahead of a huge shake-up. The sandwich chain is launching a new loyalty scheme and app tomorrow (May 15) and any points you have built up on its existing Subway Rewards membership won’t be moved over. Subway Rewards members only have until 5pm today (May 14) to use any points before they’re wiped for good. You currently get one point for every 10p you spend at Subway, and these points can then be spent on free food and drink in stores. For example, you need 100 points for a hot drink, 200 points for a side, and 1,000 points for a footlong sandwich. Under the new scheme, you will get 10 points for every £1 you spend, up to £149.99 in a calendar year. This then increases to 11 points for every £1 you spend between £150 and £349.99, and then 12 points for every £1 spent above that. Subway customers will earn “Subway Cash” through the new scheme, which will give you money off in stores. For every 150 points you have, you’ll get £1 off your next order. Analysis by Martin Lewis ‘ MoneySavingExpert.com team shows some people may need to spend more money to get the same rewards as the old scheme. MSE said: “Depending on the prices at your local branch, you may now need to spend a lot more to earn enough points to get a reward – this was the case for all seven of the examples we looked at based on someone spending less than £150 a year at Subway and the prices at our nearest store.” For example, you’d have to spend £10 to get a free coffee worth £1.99 under the old scheme – but with the new scheme, you need to spend £29.90 to get 299 points for your free coffee.
