During a trial in the District Court, prosecutors branded the incident “an act of revenge” motivated by a falling out between the pair, who had struck up a friendship and business relationship breeding and selling dogs. But the court was told the four-year friendship soured in November 2021 after requests to return Blum’s dog, Joppy, were refused before revelations she had been mauled to death at the Kenwick property.
Police prosecutors told the court CCTV captured a car registered to Blum arriving at the property in the early hours of the morning on the day of the alleged incident.
However, Blum’s lawyer told the court his client vehemently denied the allegations, insisting she was not the owner or the driver of the vehicle captured by the unclear footage and arguing the poison used was not easily accessible.
The lawyer also highlighted the unexplained eight-month gap between the time of Baraiolo’s refusal to return Joppy and the alleged poisoning.
