Hot weather warning issued for Odisha, Tamil Nadu; heavy rain in Assam

The India Meteorological Department IMD has issued a five-day hot weather warning for Odisha Tamil Nadu Kerala and Puducherry from Tuesday to Saturday during which temperatures are likely to soar Meanwhile parts of Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive heavy rain on Tuesday and ThursdayAccording to the IMD039s regional centre in Bhubaneswar the Odisha state capital recorded a maximum temperature of 394 degrees Celsius on Monday a sharp escalation since the previous day039s maximum of 33 degreesThe minimum settled at 25 degrees Celsius two degrees above normalMeanwhile Jharsuguda and Baripada were the hottest at 404 degrees Celsius followed by Bolangir at 403 degrees Celsius the regional centre said in a bulletin on Monday eveningBoudh Nayagarh Bhawanipatna Talcher and Titlagarh recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius Cuttack039s maximum temperature stood at 394 degreesThe rise in temperatures until Saturday is due to prevailing northwesterly dry air and high solar insolation the PTI news agency reported citing the IMD regional centreThe minimum temperatures will also see a gradual rise by two to three degrees Celsius In coastal districts the minimum is expected to settle around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius while interior areas are expected to record between 24 and 26 degreesThe IMD039s national weather bulletin issued on Tuesday also warned against heatwave conditions that were likely to prevail in parts of Karnataka from Tuesday to Saturday Andhra Pradesh Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal from Wednesday to Saturday and Jharkhand from Thursday to SaturdayOn Monday areas in West Bengal Jharkhand Chhattisgarh Karnataka and Tamil Nadu recorded maximum temperatures which were above normal by at least 2ndash3 degreesThe minimum temperature in Uttar Pradesh Madhya Pradesh Maharashtra and Bihar saw an increase above normal by 3-5 degreesMeanwhile regions in Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive heavy rain on Tuesday and Thursday due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation above northwest AssamOn Sunday night three people including two children died after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra River due to heavy rainfall and stormAround 20 people were rescued from the capsized boatAlso on Sunday a portion of ceiling at the Guwahati airport collapsed due to heavy rainfall while six flights were also divertedThe cyclonic circulation above northwest Assam is also likely to trigger heavy rain and snow in Arunachal Pradesh from Tuesday to Saturday the IMD bulletin addedDue to a Western Disturbance moderate rain and snow is expected in the Western Himalayan Region in the next seven days while Jammu and Kashmir Ladakh Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to be hit by thunderstorms and lightning starting from Wednesday to FridayWith inputs from PTIPublished By Karishma Saurabh KalitaPublished On Apr 2 2024Must Watch
