Everything we know about Ollie Watkins injury for Aston Villa as Unai Emery gives update

Aston Villa were left with an injury concern over Ollie Watkins in their win over Wolves on Saturday. Unai Emery’s side moved a step closer to their aim of qualifying for the Champions League with a 2-0 victory at Villa Park but were forced to play the second half without their star striker. Watkins was substituted for Jhon Duran at half-time due to a hamstring problem. Villa will want to have their top scorer available for the final run-in as the club compete for a top four spot in the Premier League as well as Europa Conference League glory. Watkins will also be keen to add to his tally of 32 goal contributions as he vies for a place in England’s squad for Euro 2024. Post-match, Emery confirmed that Watkins had suffered a hamstring issue. Villa are next in action away at Manchester City on Wednesday. Hopefully, it’s not a big injury but it’s his hamstring.” In an interview with Villa TV, Emery provided a similar message: “Maybe hamstring. Hopefully not a big injury but we’ll check him tomorrow and hopefully he’s not out for a long time.”
