Brazil proposes introducing immunity from ICC for some heads of states — Reuters

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 2. /TASS/. Brazil is proposing to grant immunity to heads of states if their countries are not party to the treaty that established the International Criminal Court, Reuters reported, citing a document containing the idea. Brazilian officials have stated that immunity for heads of state will promote peaceful relations between countries. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s government is working to make it possible for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend a G20 summit in Brazil later this year despite the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Putin, the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper reported.
